Phindile Ndlovu is a practicing attorney and a forensic investigator having completed her Bachelor of Laws degree in 2012 and a National Diploma in Forensic Investigation and Criminal Justice in 2021. She is currently an Acting Magistrate in the Civil and Private Law Court in Pietermaritzburg. She began her career as a Candidate Attorney and Professional Assistant at a prestigious law firm for 3 (THREE) years. She is the Director of A.P Ngubo Attorneys which she founded in 2015 which deals in mainly civil litigation, commercial law, forensic investigation, labour matters, dispute resolution and mediation, adjudication, strategic negotiations, drafting legal documents, providing legal opinion. She has given back to the community by providing mentorship to several historically disadvantaged individuals through AP Ngubo Attorneys. She sits as an adjudicator in:
1. The KwaZulu-Natal Consumer Tribunal which has the same jurisdiction as the High Court. The Consumer Tribunal is a directorate of the KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs and the National Consumer Commission in a bid to help consumers in the province with their grievances on products they have bought.
2. She performs delegated duties from the KwaZulu-Natal MEC: Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs where she presides over appeals relating to Liquor Licenses and Gambling & Betting Licenses.
3. She presides over Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) where private security companies are disciplined for improper conduct, breach of regulations and statutory obligations.
4. Member of UMkhabathini Local Municipality, Nkadla Local Municipality and Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality as a member of the Audit Committee which sits as support to the municipalities management to ensure that the municipality meets is legal obligations to ensure proper corporate governance and they achieve clean audits.
5. She sits as part of the National Ports Authority Hearing Tribunal which is charged with the responsibility of exercising economic regulation of the ports system in line with government’s strategic objectives; promoting equity of access to the south African commercial seaports and to the facilities and services provided by these ports; monitoring the activities of Transnet National Ports Authority to ensure that it performs it functions in accordance with this Act; and hear complaints and appeals under the National Ports Act. The national ports authority’s service offering is targeted at mainly port users (which include terminal operators, shipping lines, ship agents, cargo owners and clearing & forwarding agents)
6. She is a member of the Dr Nkosazane Dlamini-Zuma (NDZ) local Municipality Planning Tribunal (MPT) approval authority appointed by Council in accordance with Section 35 of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act, 16 of 2013. She has also worked as a Junior Lecturer at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) for a period of 3 (THREE) years. When Phindile is not at work or studying, she can be found at the beach with her husband and son.
